Thought I’d give you an update on the “Fat Face” project. (since you are all my online accountability partners!) After 5 weeks of eating well and exercising regularly (30 minute walk)….I have lost 20 pounds and my face is not as puffy. 🙂   I have 10 pounds to go to reach “pre-baby” Daniel weight.  Of course if I really want to reach the original “pre baby” weight (1988 before the first sweet baby….Michelle Jennae), I would need to lose an additional 30 pounds…whew!

As I was walking this morning…I was thinking about my body.  (It is hard not to think about it when you are huffing and puffing at a fast pace)  For 13 of the last 18 years I have either been pregnant or nursing.  That leaves only 5 years….and not consecutive ones…where my body has had a chance to “recover”.  The closest I have come to the pre-baby weight is within 10 pounds. (I’ll never get back the pre-baby body and that is a-ok with me!)

Although I would gladly welcome another baby into my life…at 45 years old, the chances are pretty great that my child bearing years have come to an end.  Which leaves no more excuses to not getting my body back in the best possible 45 year old health and shape as possible.

So I will press on to the goal (and pass on those yummy brownies, delectable fruit tart, chips and dip and poppy-seed muffins not too mention my “candy coffee” love) knowing that it will take months of dedication, hard work, perseverance and sacrifice. (and even when the goals is met – it will take a lifetime of maintenance work)  But the results will be worth it – better health, greater fitness and no “fat face”!

Way to go, Beth, and keep up the good work! One of my friends has lost over 150 pounds. She got off to a great start by asking us (her friends) to donate money to our local Food Bank for every pound she lost in 6 months. We got to set our own dollar amounts per pound, and she was doing Weight Watchers so we knew the weight loss amounts would be accurate. She ended up offering the same opportunity for the next six months. At the end of the year, she had lost over 100 pounds and raised over $40,000 for the Food Bank!!! You can do it!

Way to go Beth! I’m right there with you. I’ve lost 23 lbs and have just 2.5 to get to my Weight Watchers goal weight. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels. 🙂

  4. Hi, I just wanted to congratulate you on your success and your dedication. As a personal trainer and a independant distributor for Advocare Nutritional Products I have found it is very hard to find people who are really ready to make a lifestyle change and commit to doing whatever it takes to lose weight and maintain it. You are so right when you say it does take a lifetime commitment to maintain it, that is where so many people fail, but remember once you get to where you are comfortable it is ok to indulge once in a while in the things you love just don’t overdoe it, it’s all about moderation. I also wanted to pass a website on to you that I have found to be very helpful and know several people who are using it and they have realized it is actually helping them succeed when no other plan has worked for them. It’s called Sparkpeople, maybe you have heard about it, if you go to http://www.sparkpeople.com you will see so many helpful tips. It’s a way to log in your meals and it also gives you a meal plan along with a shopping list and so much more, anyway just thought it might help you out. Good luck and God Bless you.

  5. Way to go, Beth! I too am on the road to weight loss. I don’t lose quickly, so sometimes it’s hard to stay focused on the goal when you feel so far from it. However, when I talk to people who have been able to lose, it’s very encouraging! So keep up the good work!! 🙂
